High School and Junior High School Happenings

High School Library Enhances Student Learning!  Student learning is being enhanced in our libraries as a new circulation system is being put into place.  The librarians have been learning to catalog books utilizing the Destiny collection management system.  This program encourages learning and teacher-student collaboration by improving the libraries efficiency and simplifying access to educational resources. It enables the library to keep thorough, real-time track of inventory and media assets. It also allows our students a digital means of discovery and reading in a way that is both fun and engaging.

Cross Country Teams: Running to Glory!  Our cross country teams completed in their first meet in Hico on September 9th and Meridian had five medalists.  Lathan Hensely won 3rd place in the boys varsity division and Resse Errington placed 17th in the 8th grade girls division, Nora Lira (13th) and Elyse Herrera (15th) in the 7th grade girls division, congratulations to all.

Secondary Campuses Working Hard at Teaching Everyone! Learning this year has been improved at our secondary campuses because IXL (remedial instructional program) is up and running at the junior high and high school.   This wonderful learning platform assists our students in closing their gaps in the learning process.  This program helps to set Meridian I.S.D. apart by allowing our students to practice additional math and language arts skills.  This is one of the reasons that our schools in Meridian earn distinctions from the Texas Education Agency.

Football Team Experiencing Success!  The football team is undefeated heading into October.   Exciting times are on the horizon in all our extra-curricular activities. The coaching staff has been doing a wonderful job of guiding our students this school year.  Our coaches are setting great examples for our students to emulate.  The sportsmanship that they engage in is not just talk but a way of doing business daily.  Thank you coaching staff (boys and girls) for always acting in a professional manner and providing the best opportunities for our students to compete effectively.
