Our Counseling Program: Kids with Character!!

Kids with Character Information:

Each day, the staff here at Meridian Elementary is looking for students who are becoming Kids with Character! When a Kid with Character is spotted, they receive an O.S.C.A.R. star which they will hang on our O.S.C.A.R. door! Stop by the lunch room and watch our door become a little brighter each day will all of our stars! O.S.C.A.R. stands for Outstanding, Supportive, Caring, Awesome, and Respectful!

Character Education Information:

I also teach Character Education lessons in the classrooms for grades Pre-K through 2nd Grade! The Pre-K and Kinder classes are going through the Howard B. Wigglebottom curriculum, the 1st grade classes are going through the Jellybean Jamboree curriculum, and the 2nd grade classes are working on the Character curriculum!

We are still riding the Energy Bus! "The Energy Bus for Kids" was written by Jon Gordon! This book walks us through rules to help us stay positive and overcome challenges!

Rule #1: Create a Positive Vision (Discover Dreams that make us happy and work on ways to achieve them)

Rule #2: Fuel Your Ride with Positive Energy (Think Positive and Happy Thoughts; Surround Yourself with Positive Friends)

Rule #3: No BULLIES Allowed (In order to have a friend, we have to be a Friend)

Rule #4: Love your PASSENGERS (Ways to Love Your Passengers: Listen, Offer to lend a hand, Value others and their feelings, Eat with friends and family)

Rule #5: ENJOY the Ride

UIL Information:

The UIL Competition will be held on December 3rd and December 9th this year, here at Meridian Elementary School beginning at 1:00pm!

Practices are underway and we are looking forward to an exciting time!
