Secondary School Counselor

Meridian Secondary School is seeking a counselor for our 6th-12th grade campus.

Master’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university, with a valid Texas Certificate as a Professional School Counselor

Counseling experience preferred.

The counselor will perform the following duties:

- Plan and conduct 8th Grade Parent Night

- Plan, schedule, and oversee Advanced Placement

- Attend all ARD and 504 Meetings

- Attendance Committee member

- Hill College Contact

- Confirm student PEIMS data

- Plan and oversee Credit Recovery

- Campus Test Coordinator (STAAR, EOC, TSI, SAT, PSAT, ACT, AP, ASVAB, TELPAS)

- Plan, schedule, and oversee Dual Credit courses and students

- Plan courses for Early Graduates and oversee their progress

- Ensure completion of Endorsement Paths

- Schedule and attend FAFSA, College Night Fall/Spring

- GPC committee member

- Assist with Graduation credits, top 10%

- Homeless, 504, At-Risk, ELL, Migrant

- Keep accurate PGPs

- Respond to and monitor crisis needs

- Communicate scholarship opportunities to students and assist students as needed

- Plan, organize, and administer STAAR/EOC Summer Testing

- Student Schedules

- Summer School planning

- Test Training for all faculty and staff

- Update Transcripts including Hill College

- Other guidance responsibilities assigned by the Principal
