October 15, 2020
MISD Parents & Staff,
It has been brought to my attention that a Meridian HS student who participates in football has tested positive for COVID 19. The student was last on campus on October 9, 2020 and has not returned since.
MISD is currently contacting those individuals who had close contact with the individual and taking appropriate action.
Close contact is currently defined as (1) being directly exposed to infectious secretions; or (2) being within six feet for a cumulative duration of 15 minutes. Factors such as masks and distancing may affect the determination of close contact. In accordance with state and national guidance, any person who was in close contact should monitor their health for signs or symptoms of COVID and contact their primary health care physician if they develop symptoms.
MISD has taken steps to sanitize areas that may have been accessed by the individual and will continue to monitor the situation and provide additional information as needed.
If you have questions, please contact me by phone at 254-435-2081 or by email at kedwards@meridianisd.org
Thank You and Stay Well!
Kim Edwards
MISD Superintendent
