UPCOMING ELECTIONS In addition to our upcoming federal and state elections, both Meridian ISD and the city of Meridian will have local elections on the ballot on November 3, 2020. While election day is November 3, early voting is currently happening. Hi Jackets! A large number of our Juniors and Sophomores will be taking the PSAT in the high school gym tomorrow. Students will report to the gym first thing in the morning and will begin testing by 8:30am. The PSAT is 2 hours and 45 minutes long. Please ask your Junior or Sophomore if they are taking the PSAT and remind them to get a good night's sleep so they can perform at their best. Ms. Hughes

Surprise Baby Shower for Coach Yocham

We have our 2nd district matchup tonight in Ranger with kick-off set for 7:00 pm. There will be a "will call" list so if you plan to attend, they will just ask for your name. Their stadium holds a large capacity so there is plenty of room for all those wishing to attend and support our kids. Ranger ISD does require face coverings to enter, encourages social distancing and asks that you wear face coverings in common areas such as restrooms and concessions. Meridian Elementary School would like to recognize Mrs. Tonya Garza, Kindergarten Teacher, and Ms. Karla Childers, PE Paraprofessional, as Staff Members of the Month for September. This achievement recognizes them for being "Heart at Work" for their constant efforts to help make Meridian Elementary "Out of This World!" Help us congratulate these two ladies for their dedication to the students, staff, and families of Meridian ISD.

Yellow Jacket Football Fans: JH Football is Thursday, Oct. 1st vs. Albany @ Home. Kick off is set for 5:00. Varsity Football will play Friday, Oct. 2nd vs. Albany in Albany. KICK OFF IS SET FOR 7:00. Adjustments to Remote Learning Meridian ISD has approximately 5% of our students currently participating in Remote Learning in an asynchronous style. This is the same format we have been using this year which includes video instruction from teachers, using Google classroom, submitting assignments online and being actively engaged. As part of the Remote Learning Agreement, students must be passing and actively participating to have the option to remain remote. We continually monitor the progress of all students, and specifically our remote learners. At this time, we will continue to offer Remote/asynchronous instruction for students who meet the criteria. For students who haven’t been successful with Remote Learning, parents will be contacted and Remote Learning will no longer be an option. Meridian ISD has also chosen to delay starting synchronous (live feed) instruction until January 5, 2021. For the benefit of our students, we want to be sure our technology and devices are in order prior to launching that project. Thanks! Mrs. Edwards
