Meridian ISD

Andrea Barnett is the daughter of Barbara Barnett, Wayne Barnett, Skip Barnett, Rose Barnett, and LeeAnne Barnett. She has been active in academic UIL, Band, and Sports Manager for 4 years and National Honor Society 2 years. She has held a leadership position in band for 3 years. In Band, Andrea has qualified for the Centex Honor Band 5 times, and accumulated a total of 5 excellent ratings on her performances. In academic UIL, Andrea earned 1st place in district for Editorial writing in year 3. In OAP, Andrea has received 3 medals as an outstanding crew member. In her free time, Andrea likes to watch TikTok if she isn't working. After graduation Andrea plans on attending Tarleton State University to study psychology. Andrea's favorite memory from High School was every day in dual credit when Mrs. Wilkins walked up to me and gave me "the look" and made me do my work. She is the only reason that I passed any of my college classes.

Senior Spotlight Jose Marquez Anaya is the son of Monica and Marcos Anaya. Jose played football while in high school. After graduation, Jose wants to attend college for Automotive Mechanics.

Following suit with Governor Abbott and "re-opening" Texas, MISD has unlocked the gates at the MHS Track to allow the community to begin using it as you have in the past. Please maintain distancing as appropriate and no pets or "wheels" on the track. Thanks! Mrs. Edwards

Senior Event- May 7, 2020- 9:00 am Jacket Stadium Bring your cap and gown, we will have extras. You will stay 6 feet apart at all times. We will take many pictures. You will be spaced apart on the field for these pictures to ensure the safety of all. If your parents/guardians bring you, they must stay in their vehicles or outside the Stadium Fence. Only seniors inside the stadium area. We need all of you there!!

A Time for Hope & Unity Please join us Friday, May 1 from 7:00-8:00 & drive by Yellowjacket Stadium. We will "parade" from the north end (DAEP) & exit behind the baseball field. In coordination with Meridian PD & Meridian FD, we are also asking you to leave your porch light on.

ALL MISD ATHLETES Coach Morton will be at the field house (north end of the stadium) on Tuesday, May 5th from 2:00-5:00 for you to drop off any athletic equipment or uniforms that you haven't turned in.

MISD Transfer Students Each year we send out transfer paperwork that needs to be completed & returned. Those were mailed home today. Please return them by Friday, May 15. They can be returned w/student work @ MES or dropped in the boxes located @ the MES gym. Thanks! Mrs. Edwards

A Time for Hope & Unity Please join us on Friday, May 1 from 7:00-8:00 & drive by Yellowjacket Stadium. As a sign of hope & unity during this time, we will have field lights on. Please no stopping or gathering. We will "parade" from the north end off Hwy 174 & exit on the south.

Lockers Cleaned Out!! Faculty and Staff members have bagged and tagged personal items from all lockers in the MHS building. Be sure to come by and get these bags during Packet Pick Up/Drop Off this week.

While Governor Abbott's announcement to keep schools closed will keep our facilities closed, it also means that we will continue learning remotely. For now students have remote learning packets that need to be completed and turned in. New packets will go out Tuesday, April 21.
