Look who was spotted at our football game vs. Mart last Friday! On October 21st the MISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted in favor of two resolutions to name our athletic facilities at 7th St. and Morgan. Our stadium has been named: Frank Pollard Stadium and our Track & Field have been named Coach Al Williamson Track & Field. Frank Pollard is an alumni of Meridian High School who in 1976 became the highest scorer at the State Track Meet. He went on to play football at Baylor University and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers where he played for 9 seasons in the NFL. Coach Williamson was Head Coach at Meridian from 1967-1977 and won the State Track Meet with both his girls and boys teams in 1977. Coach Williamson and his drafting class designed and built Meridian ISD's first track. Coach Williamson passed away in 2008 but his legacy lives on in the thousands of lives he touched through the years. We have been honored to have Frank Pollard at the stadium now named for him at our Homecoming Game and our game against Mart. As you can see, he is an inspiration to our current and future Yellow Jackets! I want to thank Mr. Pollard for allowing us the honor of using his name and for coming out to support our Jackets! Please join us tomorrow night for our last home game of the season vs. Goldthwaite, as we honor the Senior Football Players, Cheerleaders and Band Members of the class of 2025, as they perform for the final time at Frank Pollard Stadium. Anyone wearing a Meridian shirt and all alumni will be admitted to the game free of charge. We hope to see you there!

Thank you Jacket Nation for the support you showed tonight at our JV and Varsity games! Unfortunately, the loss tonight means that our Lady Jacket volleyball season is over; however, we could not be more proud of the improvements that our Lady Jackets have made since Day 1! Every day is a great day to be a Lady Jacket!

November 6th, the MHS juniors and seniors have the opportunity to attend a career day. Students will not miss all day of school but will only be out for a few hours. Permission slips need to be returned by Friday so we can plan for transportation. This is a great opportunity for our students to have exposure to many different careers / colleges in one place.

Attention Kindergarten Parents! Your child is invited to join us on Friday, November 1st to be presented with a small token of school spirit from one of our high school seniors before the Yellow Jacket football game! Please meet at the football stadium at 6:15pm; and an announcement will be made when it is time for your child to move down towards the field. Parents, please do not come out onto the track or field. Enjoy this special occasion from the stands or fence line, and get your cameras ready! Your child will be given the opportunity to run through the tunnel at the start of the game; feel free to join in on the spirit line! Please check your child's folder for more details!
