MISD Jackets--We have a significant number of students out with respiratory illnesses. We have made the decision to close school tomorrow, Friday, January 31st. This will provide time to deep clean surfaces and allow sick students and staff to recuperate. I am attaching guidance from the CDC regarding respiratory illnesses. Please review this guidance and make sure students who are ill have been symptom and fever-free, without meds, for 24 hours before returning to school. Classes will resume as normal on Monday, February 3rd. Stay well!

Save the date!!!

The 100th Day of School is this Friday 1-31-25!!! :)

Trooper Sadler assisted SRO Wallum today during Jackets Against Drugs. Students learned about peer pressure, making good choices, DWI vs DUI, crashes, and pursuits. Students got to hear about the job responsibilities of a State Trooper, and how they are similar to city police. Thank you Trooper Sadler for willing to come and share your stories and experiences with the MES 5th Graders!

Participating members of the Band of Gold auditioned for the Centex Honor Band, a group of collective 2A-3A students competing for a spot in the top ensembles. For the first time ever, we had a few students placing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Chair, along with several ranking in the top percentile of their respected section. This is a great representation of skill and talent from MISD and our award winning band program! #WeAreMeridian #RiseAsOne

MISD--We have been closely monitoring road conditions as the day has progressed. The sun came out and all moisture has evaporated. We expect safe conditions for Wednesday, January 22nd. School will begin at regular time and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Due to the possibility of hazardous road conditions this evening, all of the HS Basketball games vs. Bosqueville have been rescheduled for tomorrow Wednesday, January 22nd in Bosqueville. JV Girls will tip off at 4:00pm. The games will be on a rolling schedule following the first game in order of JV Boys, Varsity Girls, and then Varsity Boys. Win the Day Jackets and Lady Jackets!

Due to MISD school closures, Tuesday, Jan. 21st. MISD Athletics has canceled all athletic practices and will reschedule basketball games with Bosqueville scheduled for this evening. Please keep an eye on Social Media for rescheduled game times. Stay warm and safe!

In light of the precipitation we received last night, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students, staff, and bus drivers, Meridian ISD will be closed today, Tuesday, January 21st. We understand the impact this may have, and we appreciate your understanding as we prioritize the well-being of our community. Please continue to monitor our school website and Facebook page for any further updates or changes to our schedule. As we monitor the situation we will make decisions about Wednesday. Stay safe and warm, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back once conditions improve.

Reminder- We will be recognizing all members of the 2024-2025 All District Football team at the School Board Meeting TONIGHT! Athletes will need to report to the Elementary Library no later than 6:25pm this evening . All athletes being recognized will need to wear jeans and a collared shirt if possible. Recognitions will be one of the first items on the agenda, so please do not be late.

MISD Jackets, We are closely monitoring the forecast and at this time no precipitation is expected overnight. Travel tomorrow morning should not be dangerous and school will start on Tuesday, January 21st at the regular time. We will continue to monitor the weather and if anything should change we will update you here. Stay safe and warm!
