Senior Parents: We will have a Senior Parent meeting next Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 5:30 pm at MHS to discuss Senior Week activities. Following this meeting at 6:00, Hill college will be here to assist with FAFSA for the Seniors who haven't completed this task.See you all then!!

Meridian Band students had the opportunity to audition for a place in the Centex Honor Band last week.
These high school students earned a spot in the honor bands:

America Ramirez- 8th Chair, Symphonic Band, Trumpet
RJ Flournoy- 9th Chair, Symphonic Band, Trumpet
Andy Barnett- 2nd Chair, Concert Band, Trombone
Tierney McLennan- 5th Chair, Concert Band, Flute
Vanessa Ramos- 5th Chair, Concert Band, Clarinet
Jaden Trester- 6th Chair, Concert Band, Clarinet
Michelle Santamaria- 14th Chair, Concert Band, Clarinet
This is the most number of HS students to make the honor band in school history as well as being the most to make it into the top band.
7th grader, Ben Beaudin, earned a 3rd chair tuba spot in the JH Concert Honor Band. A fantastic achievement for the first year auditioning.
These students will represent Meridian as some of the top band students in the area and will perform a concert on Saturday, January 25th at Connally High School at 6:30 pm.

The National Honor Society of Meridian High School is starting their annual Valentine's Day fundraiser. The fundraiser runs until January 24th. You can pick up forms in either school office or by contacting an NHS member.

Come out and support the Lady Jackets as they take on Santo at home. JV starts at 5:00.

The elementary campus is testing today through Thursday. The campus will be closed to visitors.

Congratulations to the Cross Examination Debate team made up of Michelle Santamaria and Andy Barnette for placing second today at the China Spring UIL meet!! The CX teams are coached by Chris Utton. This is their first meet of the season. What a great way to start!!


Mark your calendars... Meridian HS Prom is scheduled for April 4, time is tbd.

Please congratulate Coach Cooper for being chosen the Teacher of the 3rd 6 weeks and Mr. Utton for being chosen Staff Member of the 3rd 6 weeks. These two do so much for our students and are highly deserving of this honor chosen by the student body.



Meridian Elementary School would like to recognize Mrs. Tonya Garza, Kindergarten Teacher, and Mrs. Kellie Flournoy, PK Paraprofessional, as Staff Members of the Month for December. This achievement recognizes them for being "Heart at Work" for their constant efforts to help make Meridian Elementary "The Greatest School on Earth". Help us congratulate these two ladies for their dedication to the students, staff, and families of Meridian ISD.



*Elementary News* - Be on the lookout for notes coming home this week for the Six Flags 6 Hour Reading Club. There are great changes to the program this year, so please read your notes carefully. The note also has a unique teacher code for registering your students and logging their hours online, so don't throw your paper away!

The next Jacket Backer Meeting will be January 20 at 6:00 pm at the High School. Please attend so we can plan for the Powerlifting and Track Meets.
